Q: I have been to other acupuncturists - how and why would Heather be different?

A: Heather works with you to get results. Heather has had over 33 years experience in delivering natural health care in Brisbane. Incorporating massage, moxa (a smelly burning herb that was integral in classical acupuncture), cupping and whatever naturopathic or wise womanly advice needed, she has worked out her own style.  In addition, Heather is also a Reiki channel, and uses many extra tools - like the Aura Soma range that come into play along with Bach and Australia bush flower remedies - as needed. Often doing home-work is crucial to enhancing the healing you may receive. Heather has written many books and produced many healing tools to assist you discover what you can do at home to help yourself. She is not bound in one modality or style of acupuncture. She doesn't stick to one way of doing anything.

Q: Do you do Japanese style or TCM?

A: The answer is really neither - Heather has trained in both and originally she learnt classical acupuncture before either existed in the West.  Classical acupuncture and the use of Chinese herbs dates back several thousand years of written history - and as such it is steeped in safe practices designed through attention to the individual - no protocol, or formulaic adherence to recipes.

Q: Is it scientific?

A: Individualized health care has no place for 'evidence based medicine'.  We are all different and all have very different pathway to our own versions of pain and distress.

Q: Does it hurt?

A: Often the cupping, massage and probing do feel uncomfortable. Needles are almost painless, and momentary. What stays is a profound undoing of the tension and stress that you have been carrying around with you.

Q: I want to see Heather for fertility issues. Is there anything that I need to prepare prior to seeing Heather for the first time?

A: Because there are often underlying metabolic disorders affecting fertility, both parties need to attend with the following for your first appointment for fertility issues: sperm test results and oral temperature readings (for him and her) - taken first thing upon awakening in the morning preferably for at least a few days over the previous month.
