Comfortable late pregnancy
HELPFUL LIFE HINTS (TO MAKE THE BODY/SPIRIT GLOW)
A MORE COMFORTABLE VERY PREGNANT BODY
We can get very consumed by what we put in our mouths, what supplements and what advice to follow, and sometime miss the obvious . . . . - do we get enough restful SLEEP?
Not just hours in bed shut eye – but hours before midnight when it will do the most good?
Restful where we are not clogged with a large meal that the physical body needs to process, rather than restore and revitalise us as we are quiet?
Restful as we are feeling safe in our beds, our lives and are happy in all that we do?
When very pregnant it is often that getting comfortable is just not happening. This is when you think of MAGNESIUM. This is a mineral that is used when stressed. The more we get upset or load is put on the body, the more is needed. When it is depleted, we feel agitated, our structure starts to become very uncomfortable and we end up being often in spasm, with tension, tightness and this in itself gets us very upset.
The answer is as simple as Magnesium supplementation . Orally it is always found in a powder with Calcium. There are many products at the health food shop with muscles/fibromyalgia as their focus. This is what you need to take. In your diet, you could try adding also more nuts (never peanuts), very dark greens, and avocado, but when you are feeling structural aches and pains sufficient to interrupt your rest, the extreme measures of supplementation and at therapeutic levels are called for.
I often get my pregnant women to take up to three times the recommended daily allowance for several days until they are peacefully sleeping gain. Then drop it down to maybe just twice recommended dosage. When you do this, the mild and sometimes irritating Braxton–Hicks contractions will still happen, but without your awareness.
A GP whose wife was very pregnant asked me to induce her as she was getting no sleep. When I found out that she was only 37 weeks (baby was their first, so it would be at least 10 days over before arriving if left naturally, the 40 week marker anyway, putting it the a MONTH premature) I did not think this a sensible thing.
Acupuncture has to work WITH the body, not AGAINST or IN SPITE OF like western medicine .
When I found out why – very strong all night long B-H contractions – I asked him why she was not on the magnesium/Calcium powder I knew he carried in his clinic- he said – it is just for sports people. I use it for all – especially women who are new mums and not coping with no sleep. Or those who are very upset premenstrually, as it cuts out the ‘can’t cope’ issues.
She took my advice, had six a day, and saw me three days later after sleeping perfectly since taking the magnesium.
It really works to see a lot of the pregnancy symptoms for nutritional deficiencies that they are. Asking a medically trained and specialised person is not going to net the answers one trained in natural and nutritional medicine will.
This in itself will assist the late pregnancy enormously as sleep and rest are the keys to growing a happy baby and you being able to cope once you start in on mothering.
Many years ago, an older woman who had an adult son saw all the pregnancy literature about and passed on her thoughts. She had no idea what was going with everyone – she had NO PAIN AT ALL in labour – no pain whatsoever!!!!
Whether this would have happened to her without intervention, it is anecdotal, but I can see the sense in this. She was walking down the street in early pregnancy and her Estonian neighbours called her over and told her what to do. She was not showing and had no idea how they knew she was pregnant.
They said to avoid any problems at birth she was to every day without fail take:
- 2 yeast tablets (back then Vit B was not as easy to get – but yeast tablets do have vastly more in them than just B Vitamins),
- 2 Calcium Lactate and
- 2 Calcium Glutamate tablets three times daily.
She did. She was asleep and was woken up to push her baby out. She also said she had enough milk to feed all of the babes in the nursery.
The extra Calcium and Vit B are a great start to a very relaxed mum, and a very competent body. I would strongly recommend the Magnesium – modern life expects far more of pregnant women than fifty years ago - working till through all the stages of growing a baby is just the beginning.
Hence the pubis symphysis pain and separation, the ligament stretching that you must supposedly put up with, the back and other niggles can all be reduced through feeding your body with what is needing to do an easier job – and by allowing the nutrients to flow you will sleep far easier.
LIVING LIFE HAPPILY
- Do we have a reason to fill the day productively so that we feel as though we are making a contribution, and that the world is a better/richer place for our being in it?
- Does our heart overflow with joy and merriment from the relationships we have in our sphere?
- Do we feel included, validated and enriched through being in the lives of those around us?
- Do we thus have a sense of purpose and of preciousness, where we are special being here?
This dovetails into .. ..
TOUCH
- Are we getting sufficient touching?
- Do we give/get eight hugs a day at least?
- Are we remembering that we are mammals and as primal beings, grooming and sensuality are needed to make us feel whole?
This is crucial when pregnant and also afterwards - for both parents.
This is where the DVD “Birthing – What Dads Can Do" and the “Massage – What Dads Can Do" are so invaluable.
With these, in the comfort and security of home, you can learn how to unwind each other – as dad can have his turn after mum.
Your parts do not make up the whole – your being directs the bits.
If your state of being is depressed, distressed and/or disconnected, it is unreasonable to expect that your body can do the best it is designed to – as the central computer (your spirit) is not in peak condition.
When we are unhappy, everything is too hard.
We all know this – we can all see the difference in others and ourselves when we are happy /at peace with the world and our lives/in ‘love’/in acceptance and living in a state of grace.
Make a difference – all who use this DVD find themselves floating away – as it is just so profound to have the tension abate. Late pregnancy is then easy – you are not wanting to get baby out too soon (you are not in labour as baby is not ready – or baby is in the wrong position – please investigate www.spinningbabies.com or buy "Fetal Position Solutions" coming soon to Heather's Shop.
