Using Natural Healing to Enhance IVF |

"It has been more then 5 years since my partner and I have been trying for a baby. We were told my tubes were blocked and would have to do IVF to fall pregnant. Over this time I had tried herbs and acupuncture by a few different practitioners to help me with falling pregnant.
After many cycles with only three actual transfers I was told that my tubes were badly blocked and infected and they would have to be removed. The doctors said this will give you a better chance of falling pregnant as the infected tubes are poisoning the embryos, so I had the tubes removed very reluctantly as this is taking away my chance of hope for falling unexpectedly and naturally – a miracle in away.
After many more cycles most of them being cancelled, as I was not producing any eggs and if there was an egg, they were not good/usable sizes, the doctor would cancel the cycle.
Finally a egg, waking up in recovery I had tears streaming down my face knowing that I got an egg and a good chance of getting an embryo, but as I was leaving the recovery room a scientist caught me to tell that the egg was immature and could not be used, another disappointment. From that point the tears came and the feeling of failure again and the loss of hope of getting pregnant. The next meeting with the doctor was not good as he was talking about donor eggs and asked if anyone I could ask to help me out, but we refused to give up trying for our own biological baby.
The doctor told me we will have a rest and come in the New Year and we will try a natural cycle, with out the use of drugs to stimulate the body to make many eggs, but to use the egg that I make by myself. I was scared as I thought only one egg, very risky I want to make more eggs for a better chance.
I had also decided that if by Christmas IVF was not working I would try to get some different outside help. That’s where Heather stepped in to give me hope and confidence that the body just needs a little help from acupuncture and herbs and it will do the right thing.
Heather gave me lots of hope that I am not to old or my eggs are no good, I will get pregnant. After about 3 months of seeing her taking my herbs and having the needles, I went for a scan to make sure the egg is growing and sure enough it was and a good descent size not the tiny ones that I have had previously. When I woke up in recovery I was told I had an egg, I was happy but still a bit weary just in case the nurses or the scientist come and tell me it is not usable. Rang the next day to see if had made an embryo – yes one out of one, so far so good. Went in a couple of days later for the transfer and the doctor told me it was a fantastic embryo, exactly where it should be for a two day old embryo, this is the best result we have ever had, feeling confident now. The two week wait was on, still continuing to see Heather for herbs and vitamins and acupuncture.
At the end of the two week wait I was feeling very nervous and careful not to feel too confident, but had a lot of hope of a good out come and then we were told it was positive, we are pregnant. I could not believe it; our day had come a long time coming. Its still early days but I will continue to see Heather for my weekly visits to help me get through this very exciting time."
