Why Fetal Positioning?

As Gayle Peterson says in her great birthing manual “Birthing Normally” – so a woman lives, so shall she birth’.

This means that if you are not comfortable in yourself, but need people to tell you what to do, reassure you, and act as experts before you do anything, you are run by fear and disempowered by life. This can be highlighted when pregnant - when you may revert to a child-like state and can’t let your body do what it is designed to do.
If this is you what I have written here, and in fact in any of my work, may be very confronting for you.

If you naturally seek why and don’t accept but have to work things out for yourself you will be very happy you dropped by and started reading.

Birth and Pain

Some women do not find birthing even uncomfortable.  What sets them apart? Is it just luck??

Pain happens for many reasons - mostly we are not listening to our bodies - and we are not ready for what to do. Nature is there to help us - but modern llfe has us not active enough, and often just not in a great shape to birth.  What can you do about this?  Take charge.  What position is baby lying in?  This is a major consideration - please see Posterior Baby below.  Head down is only half the story.

A great deal of pregnancy woes are nothing more than lack of vital ingredients. Nutritionally we can help ourselves through ensuring we have heaps of Magnesium and Calcium on board.  A specific muscle ease supplement in powder form for easy assimilation, several times a day will assist all more aches and pains and ensure theat sleeping and comfort are easy.  What is in a multi vitamin pill is not enough.

Taking a Magnesium/Calcium supplement is often all that is needed to stop the pubic symphysis pain, the sciatica, back aching and the general physical distress. It can be nothing more than your body asking for help - a warning as to what might follow should you ignore it.

Depression and moodiness along with sleeping disorders can be just a lack of vital nutrients.  B complex a little often - maybe half a tablet with each meal - and Zinc - (search this site to see why this is so very important for baby and easy mothering). Vitamin C - aso needed a little often as B and C are both water soluble and do not stay in the body - helps with the gut and also to allow tissue integrity (think no more stretch marks) and elasticity (think no more varicose veins/prolapses and general aching in the physical).

Emotionally - we could have been storing all sorts of messages about birthing and be overwhelmed by it all.

There are wonderful birth stories to be found - please spend some time filling your head with the images of easy birthing. You can script what happens - in the positive.  Look for hypno birthing or calm birth support.

Using the acupuncture model, pain can be viewed as an obstruction to normal flow.

Is there a physical reason? This is where the work in What Dads Can Do (either as the hard copy with DVD's or as eBooks for instant downloading) comes in so very handy - dad can be massaging and readying your pelvis and body for the birthing - all the while both of you spending that bonding time together and you getting used to some pain and discomfort to allow your hips/pelvis to be ready to open when needed.  Learn more here.

Posterior position

Also called O.P. Obvious as baby is lying on your RIGHT not your left side.  A major reason you may not be in labour.  Or that you had horrendous back ache during birthing last time. A major reason induction is considered. A major reason labour does not progress. A major reason an 'emergency' C section is resorted to.  It is actually fairly likely that should baby NOT move into a more optimal position birthing may not be straight forwards. Why not make a difference for yourself?  Why not take matters into your own hands to ensure the easiest and gentlest birth possible for your beloved baby? Posterior position of baby is when the baby is positioned with it's back to your back so is facing upwards.
