SUPPLEMENTS
All we should need is a stunning diet and no hassles so we could make the best ingredients out of this to nourish ourselves. However we live in less than optimal conditions, and as an insurance, I suggest that everyone when wanting to begin on the journey of baby making take at least a half a good multivitamin twice daily (you get more use out of the Vit C and B component that way as they are both water soluble and taking all of it in one hit means brightly coloured urine as you void a lot of what cannot be stored).
This does not need to be a dedicated maternal or pregnancy preparation tablet. Any good (not supermarket of budget model) is fine. Women SHOULD NOT take a separate folic acid, as this imbalances the B’s she already has in her body. Folic Acid (B9) is in all multivitamin tablets, and is called ‘folic acid’ from foliage, where it is found in abundance. By following my dietary advice, heaps of this is being consumed already. It is not necessary to rely on pills, as health is not to be found in a bottle, but in living well.
Zinc is a micronutrient that is crucial in wellness. In some countries (NZ and Australia being two) there is little of this in the soil, hence the plants we eat/animals that eat these plants cannot provide for use what is not there to utilise. By strengthening the digestive process, the assimilation of the nourishment you choose goes to the best use. Selenium is also missing.
Both these are used in little quantities, but are very important for wellness and both protect the immune system and hence you from not getting rid of any cancers that may be manifesting. It is the strength of your immunity (Yang Qi) that keeps all of us cancer free and very well.
Part of this is due to the DNA/RNA repair these and anti oxidants provide biochemically. Thus, it is a great idea to find a liquid or powder – rather than a tablet form – of Zinc. The entire digestive process requires Zinc to be part of the co enzymes in the digestive process. Zinc deficiency symptoms and more on why to use it can be found by looking on www.thenutritionlink.co.uk or www.foresight_preconception.co.uk . By taking an easily absorbed form of Zinc, it is insurance for all food and other supplements that you take.
Also read “Zinc and Teething”. Zinc is really insurance towards a happy babyhood and not needing specialist baby doctoring. Maternal Zinc stores also ensure that the disfiguring stretch marks do not happen, also that she stays sane and happy at the end of the post natal period, and that baby does not have the colic and skin/mucous issues that plagues them often.
The use of the contraceptive pill helps block Zinc uptake and most women if given a Zinc challenge test (see you r naturopath) cannot taste it – meaning that they are very deficient in it. Men should be not failing this test, as Zinc is needed for semen and sperm production.
In clinic I see hardly any who pass this test – yet another reason to stock up on it. Enough Zinc ensures that blood sugar issues - especially hypoglycaemia, hence reaching for sugary and processed or chocolate snacks, does not need to happen. After a good multivitamin, Zinc is crucial for both of you. Well before you think to take other supplementation – as you need a strong digestion to use the iron etc.
If there is a query around dud/damaged sperm or ‘old eggs’, (IN ADDITION – not instead of) please reread the section on Jing a way to boost artificially is to take a large dose of Co Q 10 twice daily. This is in addition to the anti oxidants – C, E, and Selenium and fish oils (eat oily fish several times weekly) will ensure that the damage is rectified. Magnesium is a mineral that is essential for stress management.
Also to avoid DNA/RNA replication damage and is said to help prevent hyperactivity and autism spectrum issues in offspring. I get all who seek help to take away a powdered (not tablet – hard to assimilate) Magnesium supplements at the very least, all will feel calmer – and hence the digestion is more likely to do the best with all the stunning raw ingredients that are coming its way. When lacking Magnesium, muscular aches and pains and tension symptoms and all irritability are worsened.
Stopping coffee/caffeine and not wanting to get withdrawal headaches is easily fixed – Half a B and C SIX times daily, SIX drinks of Magnesium supplement and protein snack every two to three hours, PLUS lots of water does the trick. It is often the case that coming off the amount of caffeine – including the ‘de-caf’ as sold is quite a tricky time.
