Welcome to the new forum areaThe new discussion area is now launched!
It is my intention in having this part of my site open to anyone who wants RESPECTFULLY to assist in bringing the state of birthing and all matters maternal and health to the fore in an open and conscious manner. Please be aware that we all have emotional responses to what is written and that there is much guilt/angst/anger directed all over the place as we often do not get what we feel we needed/were entitled to). Some medical attention is life saving. Sometimes it is very necessary in the absence of normal unfolding as it should. It should not be an excuse to be using it ‘preventatively’ as less than 5% of birthing women actually NEED the help that is forced upon them these days. (Absence of choice in birthing attendants and too expensive/apparently medically unsanctioned). These days, especially in Australia, even those who go all out to ensure that they get the birth they feel natural and best for themselves and baby, get sabotaged by "medical" advice. I will be using extracts from Henci Goer’s works (“The Thinking Women’s Guide to a Better Birth’ and ‘Obstetric Myths, Research Realities” often as she has made the obvious available to all – the ‘improvements’ in obstetric methods have not been borne out in outcomes. This is obvious to all who are birthing or who are picking up the pieces after wards –and after my 30 plus years of working with women, I have HAD ENOUGH and am now hoping to turn the tide of fear based birthing practices into that of informed and active participation for all – as it is a matter of primal importance. Please go to www.WombEcology.com and also www.sarahjbuckley.com and research for yourself what others have to say on well babies and mothers.
